Lexie Hernandez Sanchez is a second-year medical student at Yale School of Medicine. She completed her undergraduate studies at Yale University, majoring in Anthropology and proudly affiliating with Ezra Stiles Residential College. Lexie has exhibited leadership in various organizations including MEChA (Movimiento Estudiantil Chicanx de Aztlán), Ballet Folklorico, HAVEN Free Clinic, the First-Year Scholars at Yale (FSY) program—where she also served as a mentor for incoming first-generation and low-income students—and as a mentor in the Science, Technology, and Research Scholars Program (STARS).
Lexie grew up in Pasadena, Texas, and brings her passion for community and culture into her academic journey. Outside of medicine, she enjoys crochet, knitting, painting, and sculpture.
She is especially enthusiastic about discussing medical school experiences, particularly from the perspective of coming from a low-income background. Lexie is happy to connect with and support others navigating similar paths.
